AI Strategy & Governance Scan
The AI Strategy Scan is the first step for executive boards that take AI seriously — and wish to be taken seriously. By their board. By regulators. By shareholders.
The first conversation takes fifteen minutes. No pitch — a sharp diagnosis of whether the Scan is the right next step for your organisation.
Response within one working day. First conversation within one week.
Average fine for high-risk AI Act violations. Personal board-level liability is demonstrable and cannot be delegated to the IT department.
Of AI pilots never reach the implementation stage. Primary cause: absence of board mandate and undefined stop criteria. Every pilot budget without governance is capital destruction.
Average doubling time of the competitive gap between AI leaders and AI followers. Not linear — exponential. Every quarter you wait costs twice as much to recover.
Of AI usage within your organisation is likely invisible to the board — using your business data, in external systems. Shadow AI is not an IT risk. It is a governance risk.
Your actual AI maturity — not the desired one. With maturity score, gap analysis and initial priorities. Honest, factual and directly usable as a boardroom reference point.
A visual overview of where AI creates value and where risk accumulates — per initiative and per business domain. The starting point for every boardroom priority discussion.
The operating model for AI within your organisation. Roles, mandates, assessment criteria and accountability structure — tailored, complete and ready to implement.
Formal board decision on which initiatives are executed, which are discontinued, and with what mandate. With business cases per selected project — ready for the supervisory board.
12-month horizon. Milestones, dependencies, go/no-go gates and alignment with strategic KPIs. Not ambitious on paper — executable in practice.
The story your executive board can tell internally and externally — on ambition, governance and accountability. Ready for the shareholder meeting, the regulator, and the press.
From decision to momentum — concrete per initiative. Plus a reusable template for quarterly reporting to the supervisory board. Praesum presents this in person to your board.
Praesum works exclusively at executive level. We have no commercial interest in which AI tool you choose, which vendor you select, or how much you spend on infrastructure. That makes our advice independent — and therefore valuable.
We ask the sharp questions that internal parties are reluctant to raise. We measure what is actually in place — not what the PowerPoint claims. And we remain engaged until the board can steer independently.
Every recommendation starts from value creation, risk and decision-making — not from technical possibilities. We speak the language of the boardroom.
No commercial interest in tool selection or infrastructure choices. Our advice is directed exclusively at your strategic interest.
Everything we produce is made to be used. Not to disappear into a drawer. Every document is boardroom-ready on the day of delivery.
The Scan concludes with a presentation to your executive board. Afterwards we are available as a strategic mirror during the implementation phase — at your pace.
The investment for the AI Strategy Scan is available on request and depends on the size of your organisation and the complexity of your AI portfolio. We do not work with a fixed price that is identical for everyone — because the value of the Scan for a mid-sized executive board differs materially from that for a listed organisation. Book an introductory conversation for an indication tailored to your situation.
Especially then. Most organisations underestimate how much AI is already present — through purchased software tools, through employees using their own AI tools (shadow AI), or through vendors integrating AI into their products. The Scan begins by honestly mapping your actual position. That is the most valuable information for a board that wishes to steer — regardless of how far along you are.
The Scan works as a complement. We do not examine technical architecture or system selection — that is the domain of your CIO and IT organisation. We look at the governance layer: which AI initiatives merit prioritisation based on strategic value, which governance model suits your organisation, and how your board accounts for AI risks and AI opportunities. That layer is absent from most digitalisation and IT strategies.
You work directly with the founder and senior adviser of Praesum at all times — not with a junior consultant or account manager. This is a deliberate choice. Boardroom advice requires seniority and direct accountability. We prefer to limit the number of clients rather than the quality of the engagement.
After the Scan you are fully equipped to proceed independently — you hold all deliverables and the governance foundation. For organisations that wish it, Praesum offers an ongoing strategic partnership: quarterly reviews, regulatory watch and strategic recalibration when the market demands it. This is always optional and is discussed upon completion of the Scan.
Praesum works sector-agnostically, with specific experience in financial services, healthcare, professional services and the public sector — sectors where governance and regulation carry particular weight and where the boardroom stakes are highest. The methodology is universally applicable; the execution is always sector-specific.
